Troubleshooting Flickering Lights

Flickering lights can have various causes, but many issues can be resolved with a few simple adjustments. Here are some tips that work well for most homes without requiring a neutral wire connection:

Check the light bulb

If you're using a dimmable light, you'll need a smart switch that's specifically designed for dimming. Standard smart switches might not support dimmable bulbs correctly and can cause issues like flickering or reduced performance.

Try a reputable brand

For best performance, use light bulbs from reputable brands with a minimum of 7W to prevent common issues such as flickering and inconsistent light output.

Change out the light

Choose lights with high-quality drivers from reputable brands to ensure stable performance and effective power regulation.

Attach a capacitor to light

Capacitors are important for stabilising voltage in certain lighting systems, such as fluorescent and LED fixtures. They store and release electrical energy to maintain a consistent voltage supply, which can prevent flickering or dimming issues.

If these adjustments don't resolve the problem, there might be a loose connection or power overloading that requires diagnosis and repair.
